A ritual object

Team Members: Aaron Lin, Danika Oystrek

In this project, we aimed to foster an emotional connection to sea-life and their environment. Through empathizing with endangered ecosystems we will be able to instigate a harmonious relationship between humans and the environment.

Our final ritual is to receive the bowl as a gift from someone who knows that the climate crisis deeply affects you emotionally. You are then to go for a walk on the beach and find a peaceful place to perform the ritual. You will then scoop the water and hold it in your hands. While concentrating on the ways in which the water behaves and the things which have been picked up inside it will incite a meditative state. A prayer is then to be said to the water. This prayer will be sent back into the ocean when the water is poured out.

The asymmetrical ridges create movement and interest in the water while holding it, drawing the user’s attention in.
